Audit Requirements

Employee benefit plans face ever-increasing enforcement by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service to comply with the industry’s specialized regulation and reporting requirements.  ERISA generally requires plans with 100 or more participants at the beginning of a plan year to have audited financial statements attached to the annual filing of the Form 5500. As a plan sponsor, your obligation is to select an experienced and qualified auditor.
